Product Description
Calcium and magnesium ascorbate with citrus flavonoids
Vitamin C or ascorbic acid is one of the most important vitamins. Vitamin C is known mainly as an antioxidant, a substance that protects the body against the harmful effects of free radicals. You also need it in order to maintain your immune system function.
Severe vitamin C deficiency is famously known as scurvy, a disease characterised by fatigue, bleeding, bruising, hair loss, tooth loss, swollen and painful joints, and slow wound healing.
Unlike most mammals and other animals, humans cannot make their own vitamin C. We therefore need to ingest a sufficient quantity from our food.
Vitamin C is mostly found in vegetables and fruit. Rich sources include acerola, citrus fruits, strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants, blackcurrants, mango, papaya, kiwi, leafy green vegetables, watercress, paprika, sweet peppers, chilli peppers, parsley, and rosehips.
The average Western diet provides barely enough vitamin C to prevent a true deficiency from arising. Your need for vitamin C is increased by stress, smoking, air pollution, and the use of certain medicinal drugs.
Benfida Vitamin C powder is a combination of buffered vitamin C with citrus flavonoids. The vitamin C is ‘buffered’, which means that it is bonded with the minerals calcium and magnesium (calcium and magnesium ascorbate). When taken in high doses, this leads to fewer digestive problems than vitamin C in its pure, acid form (ascorbic acid). Citrus flavonoids are added to enhance the effectiveness of the vitamin C. Vitamin C always occurs together with flavonoids in foods.
Every spoonful contains 1000 mg of vitamin C and 200 mg of citrus flavonoids.
