In the Far East, green tea has been regarded as a health-giving drink for centuries.

All types of tea are derived from the tea plant, Camellia sinensis. Depending on how the tea leaves are treated, different kinds of tea with different colours, aromas, and other qualities are created. The best-known are black tea and green tea.

Green tea is unfermented tea. The leaves are steamed for a short period immediately after harvesting. This makes the enzymes inactive and thus prevents fermentation, so that they retain their green colour.

The healing effect of green tea is attributed to its high content of polyphenols, especially catechins. One of the best-studied polyphenols in green tea is epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). Although EGCG is regarded as the active ingredient of green tea, the true power of green tea comes from the combination of all the catechins, polyphenols, and other bioactive substances it contains.

To benefit from the health-giving effects of green tea, you need to drink several cups of good-quality green tea every day. In some cases, it can be simpler to take green tea extract as a supplement.

Benfida Green Tea is a standardised green tea extract with a high concentration of active substances: 98% polyphenols, including 60% catechins, with 50% EGCG.

Each capsule contains 300 mg of catechins, including 250 mg of EGCG. That’s equivalent to two small cups (120 ml) or one large cup (240 ml) of good-quality green tea. Because Benfida Green Tea is a whole extract, it also contains all the other bioactive substances in the tea, which means it has a strong and wide-ranging effect.

Benfida Green Tea is low in caffeine, with a maximum caffeine content of 1%.
